The document is inserted into the buffer in mode 2.4, the PDF version 2.3. The document should display on screen, but if it doesn't, you have to install the MathType fonts.

MathType Support Software
To view this math processing document, you need to install MathType fonts. You can get them from the MathType site here.
This version is known to be supported. It is not currently known whether or not other versions are supported. If you have problems using the version of MathType you have installed, please contact MathType Support.
If you have MathType version 9, you can view this document in its default font, or in MathType 9 Enhanced Math language. (Version 9 is a modern MathType version and it includes a lot of enhancements, including the ability to use English and other languages in math mode.) However, you have to use the Command Line Font Manager (CLFM) to view it, and you can't insert it into your MathWriter or use it in the Math Writer's menus.
Opening and viewing this document in any math processing program, such as MathType's own MathType, will probably work. However, it is unlikely to be able to recognize special formatting, such as superscript, subscript, or other mathematical symbols, and it's possible that it might throw errors or display incorrectly.
To display the document, you must have the MathType fonts installed.
